Anyone interested in podcasting?
As you have probably seen there have not been that many updates to the site for the past few days. Anyway I have been stuck on lots of trains over the past few days and I started thinking about about some of the posts that I read at Stuttering Chat. One of the threads was relating to an American student, who runs a blog about stammering, who was looking to create a podcast about stammering. So what's a podcast some of you ask me? Taken from the excellent link at the Wikipedia a blog is:
Podcasting is a blanket term used to describe a collection of technologies for automatically distributing audio and video programs over the internet via a publish and subscribe model. Podcasting enables independent producers to create self-published, syndicated "radio shows," and gives broadcast radio or television programs a new distribution method.
In the podcasting model, the publisher publishes a list of programs in a special format, known as a "feed", on the web. A user who wants to see or hear the podcast subscribes to the feed in special "podcatching" software (a type of aggregator), which periodically checks the feed and automatically downloads new programs as they become available. Typically, the podcatching software also transfers the program to a desktop or portable media player.
This I thought was an excellent idea. When I get back infront of my computer I'll post you the link to the blog, but until then you're going to have to take my word that it exists.
So getting back to the podcast. I have been searching for software that automates a podcast system, which I am close to finalising...well maybe. The idea would be to create something similar about stammering or perhaps of the group talking about their own feelings towards stammering. You might think that this is an incredibly nerve racking task so I thought let's find some links about stammering. On my travels I found several sites where people talk about stammering when recording a podcast, everyone gets nervous. Search these sites for the word stammer:
So there is no pressure at all because even people without a stammer can become disfluent due to nerves. If anyone is interested in taking this idea further do let us know. |
