people who stutter, their families, and especially parents of children who stutter. This article discusses how the thoughts, beliefs and emotions associated with stuttering may influence how clients and their families cope with stuttering, as well as provide 6 characteristics of comprehensive treatment that can help the client and family to ultimately attain congruence between their thoughts and feelings associated with stuttering.
